Peniche
Located in the western region of Portugal, Peniche is synonymous with the sea: in this coastal town where the fishing industry is associated with tourism as a way of promoting a unique destination, the fine white sandy beaches give it the title of ‘Capital of the Wave’, where lovers of sea sports and travellers with a taste for the sea will find all the conditions for unique stays.
One of Peniche’s curiosities is that it rests on a tombolo – a tiny peninsula with a perimeter of around 10 kilometres – with Cape Carvoeiro at its western end.
The town has a rich cultural heritage, reflected in its lively festivals, such as the Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem Festival and the Flavours of the Sea Festival, which attract visitors from all over the world. The local gastronomy is another strong point, with traditional dishes such as fish stew and octopus à lagareiro.
In addition to its natural and cultural attractions, Peniche is an excellent starting point for exploring the Berlengas Islands, an archipelago with crystal-clear waters and wild landscapes. With its unique combination of natural beauty, vibrant culture and delicious gastronomy, Peniche is an unforgettable destination for any traveller.
